AMERICAN MARKETING ASSOCIATION INTERNATIONAL COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE

Spring 2022

MUSE is thrilled to be renamed 2022-2023 Platinum Chapter - International Chapter of the Year at the AMA International Collegiate Conference that took place in Chicago from March 17-19. Every two years, all AMA chapters are judged on the success and performance of their events on variet of criteria — professional development, community and social impact, fundraising, membership, internal and external communications, and chapter operations. We are honored to have been selected as the International Chapter of the Year, a title we have held since 2014. This year, we’re excited to be able to retain that title as a Platinum Chapter, alongside two other AMA chapters, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and Temple University. We’re honored to be recognized for our continued dedication to providing the best marketing experiences and opportunities to students on campus, while also making a positive impact on our local, national, and global communities.

Other awards include:

  • Jenna Bao (W’24) won 2nd place for the Social Impact Scholarship, which celebrates AMA student leaders using their marketing skills to make communities stronger. She’s currently studying Finance and Operations Management with a minor in Data Science at Wharton.

  • Tammy Yang (W’23) won 1st place for the EBSCO Marketing Scholar Award, which celebrates students who have demonstrated leadership roles in their AMA collegiate chapter and developed their marketing skills both on and off campus. She’s currently studying Marketing and OIDD with a minor in Music.

  • Edward Wu (W’24) won 6th place in the Diversity Leadership Scholarship, which recognizes minority students who have demonstrated leadership in their chapter activities and in other areas of their lives. He’s currently studying Marketing and Operations Management with a minor in Design.

We are also excited to announce that the MUSE Case Team, consisting of Edward Wu, Michelle Cao, Hansie Wang, Claire Cao, Michelle Zhang, Jessica Kim, Michael Li, Jonathan Wu, and Joey Huang won 2nd place at the AMA Case Competition where they presented their proposal on how to increase Amazon Prime Student signups with a Gen-Z focused marketing campaign. This competition is a national competition that had 42 submissions from universities across the United States, and through their thorough market research analyses and comprehensive marketing tactics that encompassed raising awareness of the Amazon Prime Student brand, converting the aware audience into customers, and retaining those customers, they were able to come out on top

END OF SEMESTER ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Spring 2021

EXTERNAL

Started a podcast, something MUSE has NEVER done before. Check the first episode out here, the second episode out here, and the third episode here, and keep an eye out for future episodes next semester. External also organized such a successful career trek earlier this semester with companies like BCG, Evercore, Cerberus, and Clorox, supplemented by a resume workshop. They also invited our alumni back for a panel!

INTERNAL

Launched MUSE Matches (to connect MUSE members with each other), a MUSE x MBA mentorship program, and a MUSE underclassmen-upperclassmen mentorship program. Held professor dinners and MUSE socials. Took over our Instagram with such incredible MUSE alumni from consulting, marketing, tech, and finance backgrounds! As always, doing the MOST to spread #MUSELove.

CONFERENCES

Organized WUMC this semester—all four events were so successful! We had a Fireside Chat with Former CMO Leslie Kilgore, a Social Impact Panel with speakers from Goldman Sachs and Pact Ventures, a Diversity and Inclusion Panel with leaders from BlackRock and Marsh & McLennan, and a Strategy and Development Panel with speakers from MAC Cosmetics and Apple. Look out for a (hopefully in-person) MARC next semester!

INNOVATION

Launched an app this semester, dedicated to helping students stay on top of their COVID-testing routine! Every time users get tested they grow their virtual plant on the home screen — getting tested more frequently means growing a larger plant! Download the app here, and give the committee some feedback here. They’re also working on a project on NFTs, immersing themselves in today’s newest fintech trends. Innovation’s really kicking it off with new and exciting projects truly at the intersection of tech, art, and business.

SOCIAL IMPACT

Established an on-going relationship with the Netter Center, working on 3 client projects with local Philadelphia organizations. Helped Conferences organize a Social Impact panel for WUMC. Social Impact took “Social Impact” to the next level by also helping small businesses on the East and West Coast with their social media strategy. Kept up our incredible partnership with United by Blue—this year by helping them fundraise through a Bingo Board.

CREATIVE

Continued their incredible ad agency work with 4 clients this semester! Creative challenged themselves this semester by taking on projects dealing with soon-to-be-manufactured product packaging and logo redesigns. It was also their first year taking on year-long projects. Check out their beautiful work here!

DIGITAL

Established a long-term partnership with a client both this and last semester to help on a large digital project. Streamlined MUSE Flash, so all the emails in your inbox are better and sleeker! Always helping out for the designs of all MUSE events, which has been incredible. Working on a new MUSE website soon, so keep an eye out for that!

CASE TEAM

Won 2nd place in the American Marketing Association Case Competition! A huge honor and an achievement well-deserved given all their hard work this entire year. Always repping MUSE and making us proud at this huge competition!

SIP CONSULTING

As always, killing it with the client projects! SIP was able to work with 7 clients this past semester, with companies like The Taco Bell Foundation and Evidence Action. All consultants were trained with a brand new program, developed by SIP’s VPs, in order to truly enhance those consulting skills. Ended this semester by bringing some alumni back and having a socially distanced meal!

GENERALIST CONSULTING

Did an incredible job with their 9 clients this past semester, with companies like Merck and Corinthian Yacht Club. Brought in 14 newbies and had many safe meet-ups on campus this past semester! Invited some alumni back, and celebrated the end of this semester with a well-deserved socially distanced meal!

FINANCE

Worked closely with our Consulting committees to ensure MUSE’s accounting book is in check! Finance is anticipating and preparing for next semester, when hopefully we’ll be in-person and have more subsidized events!
